CAD Tray Collumn

This Tray collumn if you can see located at the bottom of the page. Basically it have snap, grid, ortho, polar, otrack, LWT, and model.

Usually, some of the options are used :

  • Polar
  • Osnap
  • Otrack
Track to Points on Objects (Object Snap Tracking) [AutoCAD User's Guide: AUG]

Auto Track helps you draw objects at specific angles or in specific relationships to other objects. When you turn on AutoTrack, temporary alignment paths help you create objects at precise positions and angles. AutoTrack includes two tracking options: polar tracking and object snap tracking. You can toggle AutoTrack on and off with the Polar and Otrack buttons on the status bar. Object snap tracking works in conjunction with object snaps. You must set an object snap before you can track from an object's snap point.

How to setting Polar, Osnap and Otrack

point you mouse to any tray option ------> right click ------> setting...

Click on "Polar Tracking" and you can setup the angle that you want polar to track. For easy, just choose 15 degree. You will easily to track line at angle 15, 30, 45, 60 .... and so on.

Then, click to "Object Snap" to setup what kind of part that you want to snap. This snap will easily make you draw at initial point that you want to connect to other part of you drawing. Tips: just choose the important object snap when you really want to use it. Choose all object snap will make you confuse with undesired point. Later you can change to other options.

Then click on "Snap and Grid". You can setup your x and y space. It will enhance your drawing speed and efficiency, you can display and snap to a rectangular pattern of grid points. You can also control its spacing, angle, and alignment. To use this option, make sure you turn on the "snap" and "grid" on tray.

"Ortho" is used when you want just to draw a straight line. You cannot make an angle line by using this option.

Make sure you practice this and be familiar with this tray option. Then you will find it easy before you start drawing your projects. Any problem, comment is allowed.
